On Top of Lourdes at Pic du Jer, France

It was surprisingly hot in Lourdes when we visited. I’ve had this unfounded notion that European countries are cold, even during summer, and to arrive in this southern town of France, sweating, as if I was back in Cebu, was quite disorienting. I’ve had hopes that it would be similar to UK where the sunshine can barely warm you, especially, when cold winds are strong. If I did my research, I would’ve found out that Lourdes is somewhat at the same level…

Marian Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, France

Previously, I showed you around the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, one of the most visited pilgrim sites in the Christian world. The Sanctuary is built around the rock, Massabiele, where a 14-year-old girl, Bernadette Subirous, saw apparitions of a white-robed lady 18 times. During these apparitions the lady instructed Bernadette to tell the village priest and build a chapel which many people would soon visit. Bernadette dug the earth until she discovered water, soon enough, this became a…

Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, France

Visiting Lourdes in France was the focal point as to why I flew to UK in 2016. The boyfriend, his parents and I went on a short but meaningful trip to Lourdes, a town devoted to honoring the Virgin Mary whose series of apparitions were seen by a 14-year-old girl named Bernadette Soubirous (now St. Bernadette). Before I share with you the different pilgrimage stages and works of mercy that we did and participated in, I want to show you first…

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, Taipei

My last post for Taiwan, ahh! Finally? Finally! A bit bittersweet but this has been postponed for a year and I’m glad we’ve finally reached the end, partly because that means my backlogs are less, now, haha. But more importantly, I’ve shared with you my vibrant experience in Taiwan. It may have not started well, getting lost in the province and welcomed by storm at Yehliu, to non-stop rain for days 2 and 3 but it ended well on our 4th…

Eating Poop at Modern Toilet in Ximending, Taipei

Themed restaurants are big hits in Taiwan. Reviewing our itinerary spreadsheet now, we listed 4 to visit. There’s a Barbie themed restaurant, one for Hello Kitty, one that feels like being in one of the largest planes without actually taking off which is the A380 Sky. Quick side note: I didn’t know about A380 back in March last year until I boarded one in September when I left the UK for Cebu. It’s a two-storey plane! I know! How far…
