In case you missed it over on my Instagram stories and Facebook video, I did a haul of all things beauty from Rustan’s Beauty Addict event. But before that, here’s an ensemble I quickly came up with an hour before the event! I know, I was totally in the “I have nothing to wear” zone. However, I was totally chuffed with what I came up with. It’s trendy, wearable and definitely comfortable all in one.
I didn’t know what to expect at the event as I’ve never been, I believe they had a beauty addict event last year. But from what I heard, it’s all about fun and games as well as walking around. So, I made sure to wear something comfortable to allow maximum movement. (Read: No heels, please.) Because yes, I’m pretty competitive.
White and Denim, Easy No-Brainer Wardrobe Staples
Though mini-skirts don’t exactly give you security as one wrong bend and you might be giving away everything down there. I was quite confident none of the games would involve me doing compromising poses. And so I went with a no-brainer combination of white slogan shirt and denim skirt. Simple yet trendy!
I added another layer of trend that you may have probable seen all over Instagram by now, the Prince of Wales check blazer! I love the juxtaposition of the oversized and masculine fit of the blazer with the fitted and feminine silhouette of the shirt + skirt.
Monochrome and Gold Details
I paired it with three accessories of black color to match the monochromatic check, a beret, belt and clutch bag with gold border detail. Berets are quite the buzz right now, especially as it’s the perfect headwear for autumn. I couldn’t help but wear one giving the entire look a Parisienne vibe.
To not stray away from the beautiful simplicity of each piece, I wore this delicate stud earrings with a couple of gold and gem cord falling down to my shoulders.
Since we’re still on the monochromatic side of things, I decided to add a bold color for shoes as to not overwhelm the entire look. A metallic pink loafers was everything I needed to add that needed oomph! The trendy horsebit gold detailing tied up perfectly with the other gold details across the look.
Ultimately, this became a very trend-led ensemble composed by rather simple pieces on their own. Simple but flexible as you and I could definitely style each piece in many different ways. Good staple additions to your wardrobe, indeed!
Zara slogan shirt, H&M denim skirt, Bershka blazer, Primark clutch bag, Cotton On beret, Forever 21 earrings, Topshop loafers.
