Denim is arguably the most accessible fashion piece in the world. A wardrobe must-have and every fashionista’s essential. It is versatile, easy to style and works in any climate! I collaborated with The Metro Stores as they celebrate denim in their Big Denim Party with up to 50% off their denim items starting June 15 until July 15! This is Part 3, my chic take on double denim. Read Part 1 and Part 2.
This has got to be my favorite denim on denim style post to date. I’ve struggled to choose the feel and vibe that I want to convey as it’s, surprisingly, the most flexible denim ensemble amongst the 3 I’ve styled for The Metro Stores.
Wickers and Weaves
The first time I’ve tried this both on, I instantly thought of heeled espadrilles and woven basket bags. Unlucky me, I couldn’t find one that I liked enough to pair this duo with. I saw a pink one but I wanted something that would pop out and that would be something in bold color, so anything almost neutral is a no for me. I found one in red orange and it would’ve been the perfect pair but alas, they didn’t have my size anymore. Hence, I’m just gonna leave it up to your imagination (and maybe you’ll be able to materialize it) of how I’d have this styled if I had the right espadrilles.
Since I started with something summery, my back up plan became something bright and light, still. I had these yellow stilettos that would pair up with these light blues terrifically. The minimalism of a single strap + stilettos would’ve balanced the combination of trends already present in this outfit. However, I didn’t really have an accessory in mind to perfect what could’ve been. I suppose, it should’ve been an easy match to any of my bags (a white crossbody bag, or a brown drawstring pouch) but you’ve seen them all and they didn’t give out a well-put-together chemistry.
And so, here we are. I settled with incorporating burgundy and florals. Yes, it’s far from the summer vibes I came up with but can’t you hear the rain pourin’? It’s been raining for days and it subconsciously affected my mood then my style. Burgundy is a no-brainer for autumn or cold weather, it’s also a go-to for class and sophistication and I thought, it’d be perfect to show you that even a double denim can be chic and classy.
Not totally giving up on summer, I carried florals with little burgundy flowers in it which added print to this otherwise plain palette. Any printed bag that has a hint of burgundy would definitely work, it need not be florals if you’re Miranda Priestly.
As for my neck up, I found this silly denim scarf (which, thankfully, isn’t sold on its own, that would’ve been ridiculous, srsly) and immediately thought of Britney Spears. I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t think of pairing this double denim top + jeans + denim scarf with denim espadrilles (readily available with my size) and a denim clutch (which I also found in the shops). But that’s too much Britney, and Justin even said he regretted that double denim ensemble… so I didn’t want to go there, haha.
A bulky scarf in the neck doesn’t need more volume, I styled my hair in a simple low bun with braids on top. You could style yours in any updo, as long as you take away your hair from the neck part. Again, no volume needed anymore, so I fixed some white stud earrings to match along with the bag. A statement earring would’ve made no sense along with the scarf.
And that’s it! Oh, so much fun was had styling these denim outfits for The Metro Store. I’d like to thank them for letting me campaign for Big Denim Party. Don’t forget to check out sweet denim deals until July 15 (a few days left!) in any Metro stores nationwide. I’ll see you around in double denim, yes? Or triple denim, even.
