Denim is arguably the most accessible fashion piece in the world. A wardrobe must-have and every fashionista’s essential. It is versatile, easy to style and works in any climate! I collaborated with The Metro Stores as they celebrate denim in their Big Denim Party with up to 50% off their denim items starting June 15 until July 15! This is Part 1.
If your name isn’t Britney or Justin, then you probably don’t sport denim on denim too often. As I’ve said, denim is easy to style, but to wear multiple denims in an outfit? It can go terribly wrong easily. I think it was invented to be a fail-safe pair with anything but! However, there are a few ways to make one wear denim on denim without cringing next week!
I chose this top as it has a light wash and subtle fade, the same goes with the jeans except that the wash may be a tone darker. I find uncomplicated fades and light washes to less likely clash with other denim pieces. The cool neutral tone that both pieces created is easy on the eyes, and although they’re not identical washes, the subtle fade tied them up together and made them blend well gracefully.
I paired them up with my equally cool Stan Smiths. They may have that green detail at the back but it’s too small to have an impact on the vibe altogether. If anything, it only added appeal as it gave that pop of color to break the monotone denim-on-denim situation. To further break it up, I carried this tote bag in almost mustard shade of brown leather. Tote bags are spacious and practical, so they will hold up your work laptop and documents! This particular one is simple and straightforward so don’t worry about a mismatch, the shade perfectly complements the light blue wash of the outfit, as well.
Cool and clean, this is how I’d elevate my work wear with denim on denim! How about you?
