I’ve posted three summer looks already but all of them strips down to a 2-piece bikini. Now, there are some of us who would prefer one piece swimsuits and the most fail-safe way to style a 1-piece would be to wear shorts! Very simple and no-brainer, indeed. But to deviate from the expected flip-flops at the beach, I decided to pair these combo with boots and voila! I look like I’m about to go to a music festival sans flower crown and beer.
I’ve owned this bodysuit for a year now, it isn’t actually a one-piece, but I’m sure you get the gist of this style post. One-piece swimsuits or bodysuits were the rage last year. Since high-waisted bottoms were also given the spotlight, it wasn’t surprising to see them bodysuits tucked in. But I digress. I love this bodysuit because of the neckline and halter-like shape. I don’t have to go bra-less, as well, which, for me: a small-boobed girl, is a nightmare. Strapless bras work well since the back doesn’t go pretty low. It’s a simple piece and yet it has been worn plenty of times already.
I found this shorts during one of the sales (because when do I shop regular-priced items, lelz), and I immediately thought of pairing it with the bodysuit for a it’s-summer-but-i-love-black outfit. As you may know, I’m in love with floral prints and these delicate flowers and lace hemline were great to contrast the grungy vibe of this look.
I wouldn’t wear boots a lot in this tropical country, let alone to the beach, so this ensemble would definitely be great where it isn’t scorching hot, like the malls, probably. I ruined the only boots I own but I consider it as a wardrobe staple despite the weather, so it comforts me knowing I have one (how irrational, right?). However, I would definitely not invest in an expensive one, since I know I wouldn’t get much wear from it (very rational, yes). So, when I found this, again during the sales, I just had to get it. They were reasonably cheap and were straightforward, it’s just what I want from the only boots I’ll own (for now). Would you believe these boots were cheaper than the shorts? I know! It’s either the shorts was an irrational buy or I was lucky the boots were marked down beyond 50%. I’d like to believe the latter.
To complete this look, I wore this utterly cute dusty pink back pack, only because it matches the floral shorts; plays well with the I’m cute but I can be powerful at the same time vibe. My hair could’ve been done better but I really didn’t know how to style it aside from Leia buns again. I also envisioned a shaved sides then all hair to another hairstyle, similar to Natalie Dormer’s in Hunger Games. I think it goes well with the vibe I’m going for, but I can’t just shave my hair for one look, can I? So I’ll leave that to your imagination instead.
