For some reason, I’ve done a lot of day-to-night looks in real life but never here on the blog, so here’s my first official take on it!
I’m a true blue office girl, you know, the typical 9-to-5 on weekdays. It’s always bizarre to me when people ask what day I’m off because I’ve always only had weekends off. To have a weekday off is a weird concept to me unless it’s a holiday or I’m on leave. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop occasions from happening, of course. Dinner parties or social events, it’s always nice to be presentable and not to go on your usual office look. I work with codes and computers, so we don’t have a dress code. I, normally, put on some jeans, shirt and sneakers, and that’s it. I don’t wear make up to work nor walk in heels, because that won’t stop your code from having bugs. I only need my brain and that’s what I try (very hard) to bring to office every work day.
So, if you’re one of us who don’t have uniforms for work, I thought maybe we can dress up a little bit more but stay comfortable. Adhering to my no heels rule, we can always play around with flats. These gorgeous velvet ones I found on sale at Zara. These have a thin cushion for the soles, and they’re not stiff! Therefore, no need to worry about first-wear blisters.
Level up your skinny jeans to mom jeans, and that’s all it takes to make your look ‘fashionable’. Mom jeans work well with any body type, too, they accentuate your waist but is baggy from hips down. Looks gorgeous for those with big hips, but for us without it, no worries, it will create that silhouette for you.
Since we’re going for mom jeans, it’s my go-to to have the top tucked in. This is to help on that cinched waist effect. I went for these lovely blooms on a dark green canvas. Dark colors are effective in giving off a serious tone, which is perfect for work! But as to not make it boring, throw in some florals or prints.
Crossbody bags are my go-to but it’s not practical as they barely have space for essentials. Tote bags or spacious hand bags are what you want. Neutral colors (black, nude) would easily work with everything, no matter what your office outfit of the day is.
Later tonight, I transform this look to a dinner-party ready one! Come back, Jack?
