For the past year, I can safely say, vintage styles have dominated the fashion scene. Some of them might be revived with a modern take but nevertheless, the 70′s flare, 80′s vibrancy and 90′s normcore are back.
See, I grew up in the 90′s. I have pictures of my mother wearing mom jeans, and at some point in my teenage phase, I thought, “what are thoooose?”. Fast forward to today, and all I could ever think about are mom jeans. White button up? Pair it with mom jeans. Bodysuit? Pair it with mom jeans. Cropped tops? With mom jeans. Slogan tees? With mom jeans, and ripped ones.
Another trend that has crept up early this year is wearing fishnet stockings underneath anything denim. So guess what I thought I’d pair it with? You guessed right, mom jeans!
My first impressions with denim on fishnets is that it carries a certain edgy, punk rock, grunge kind of aura. So I tried to look rebellious in the photos below, but since I’m Miss Goody-Two-Shoes since forever, my ‘cigarette’ is a chocolate wafer stick, haha. One of the few chocolate flavored things I can tolerate, in fact.
As mentioned in my January haul, I was already searching for a band tee to complete this rebel look, and I kid you not, after I’ve finished my shopping spree, the shops decided to stock on some band tees. However, I didn’t want to sport a band that I’m not a fan of or haven’t really heard of, so I thought that a slogan tee would be a perfect alternative! Slogan tees are back, as well, aside from its vintage connotation, it’s also most likely because the world has gone shite and it has come to a point where we need to wear our statements. Style and standing up against the evils at the same time? Cute!
