Eat Like A Viking at Vikings Luxury Buffet, SM City Cebu

Finally, the family got to try Cebu’s newest craze: eating like a Viking!

Starters

The variety for each type of cuisine and type of food is astounding. They just don’t offer you a baguette, they’ll offer you numerous types of bread! Same goes with the greens you can include in your salad, as well as the dressing. The cheese platter includes various cheeses, crackers and cold cuts. Tiny eats such as bruschetta and foie gras can are also served among others. Soups are aplenty but they’re not grouped together, instead, they are joined with the type of cuisine they are.

Food served is mostly group in cuisine type or ‘stations’, as they call it. There’s Italian, Thai, Korean, Greek, Grill, Shabu Shabu and a Carving Station (everyone’s favorite!).

And these which I failed to take their station names but are just as awesome! Filipino (Lechon, represent!), Sushi, Maki, Chinese Stations and more!

The one above is so yellow, but trust me it’s edible! Delicious ebi tempura, tonkatsu and chicken katsu at the far right.

Dessert

Tell you what, I’ve already read a couple of blog posts re: Opening of Vikings. What stood out was the fact that they have a non-milk chocolate fondue. I know that they offered a white chocolate fondue during opening. The day I dined in, they offered a strawberry one. Guess who’s in non-chocolate heaven? Me, of course! It’s very rare for buffet restaurants to serve desserts and fondues that are not chocolate. I mean, I don’t have a personal vendetta against chocolates but man, we, non-chocolate lovers, exist, too. You don’t have to sprinkle chocolate syrup on everything! Leave my mango cake alone!

Anyhow, there’s more to rant above.

Drinks

Tea, coffee, various flavors of juices and a beer tap. The decision of which to pair best with your food is quite a hard one. I saw people having a brief taste test in this station. A bit silly but you gotta do what you gotta do. Taste away and quench your thirst with your favorite one!

My starters! I actually had a separate plate for my salad, lol. That one leaf looks funny. Potato croquette, bruschetta, tonkatsu and chicken katsu.

X-men Ron Origins: Asian Cuisine! Sweetcorn soup, steamed pork siomai, korean chapchae (this one is very delish!), and chicken teriyaki with stir fry veggies. I also had a bowl of noodle soup from the shabu shabu station where you can make your own.

I told you, I was excited about the strawberry fondue. :/ It was very good with melon and marshmallows.

I love this bit. Near their entrance, is a counter where kids can decorate their own cupcake, play with Legos and do some art with coloring books! A staff will be with them all through out. My cousins also got a balloon and a goodie bag with toys in it. Impressive, really!

And that’s just most of what they offer. You have to see everything in person and eat like the strongest Viking in town!
